The INSIGHT® desktop device employs a microfluidic chip to properly manage the mixing of formulation solutions in a microfluidic chip (e.g. lipid solution from one inlet and aqueous solution with therapeutic proteins and nucleic acid structures from another inlet). The microfluidic chip provides the most effective production of pharmaceutical nanoparticles on a lab scale. In comparison to conventional methods that rely on the shrinking of produced particles (e.g. multilayered vesicles), this approach has the following advantages:
1. Size reduction techniques are not needed
This technology produces medicinal nanocarriers in a single step without the need for time- and money-intensive post-processing procedures like sonication and extrusion to reduce the size of produced nanoparticles.
2- High-volume production of nanocarriers with maintaining high levels of product sensitivity and quality.
This technique allows for a more straightforward approach with a smaller sample volume, the capacity to regulate the size of the nanoparticles, and a higher level of encapsulation.
3. Excellent repeatability
The issue of traditional techniques' poor repeatability has been resolved using this technology.
