High Temperature Differential Scanning Calorimeter

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) test is one of the fundamental tools in thermal analysis which can be used in different industries such as pharmaceutical, polymer, agriculture, semiconductors, food industry, etc. The heat capacity, heat transfer, kinetic energy data, materials purity, phase transformation, and materials microstructural changes can be specified using DSC method. The DSC device has two stages; two crucibles containing reference and desired samples are placed upon each stage.

The device begins the heating process according to the schedule. Each crucible has its separate heating system. If the decomposed material is endothermic (like melting), the device transfers more heat. Since the device only records the differences, an upward peak (in this case) will be created. If the process is exothermic, generated peck will be downward. The area under the peak shows the variation of the sample enthalpy which is proportional to its specific heat capacity. It is noticeable that the device heating rate has a direct impact on the features of peaks.
