Introduction
Milling is one of the common methods in preparing powders. This method can also be utilized for mechanical alloying. The used tools in this method are usually ball mills. The mills are different with each other in terms of capacity, efficiency and additional equipment for heating and cooling. In milling process the properties and quality of the produced materials are directly related to the equipment and milling conditions. Therefore, the mill selection and familiarity with its properties are the first step in milling process. High energy mills are usually very suitable for reducing particle size and mechanical alloying. One of these mills is Blade Ball Mill which has a horizontal chamber with high speed rotating blades. In this regard, a mixture of materials and balls are poured into the chamber; by shooting the balls through the rotating blades in the all directions, the collision between balls and materials occurs and makes the powder of material in micron and nanometer. As mentioned earlier, mechanical alloying is the other capability of this instrument which can be done when the powders of two metals are made simultaneously. Of the advantages of this mill is its suitability for metals such as titanium, aluminum, copper, etc. which is hardly feasible in other mills due to their structures.

The Blade Ball Mill or Simulare is one of the most common equipment for making of nano-powders. In this mill, the rotation of blades and shooting the balls result in making the powders.

Manual and maintenance
 
  • Inserting the container of materials inside the Glove-box (in Controlled atmosphere).
  • Putting the materials in the container.
  • Injection of inert gas.
