This meeting focused on setting priorities, addressing challenges, and advancing ongoing international standardization projects in the field of nanotechnology.

The Iranian delegation comprising experts from universities, knowledge-based companies, and the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology's Nanotechnology Innovation Headquarters demonstrated the country’s strong scientific and technical capabilities in nanotechnology standardization. Beyond technical reviews of draft standards, the event provided a valuable opportunity for Iranian experts to engage in dialogue, foster international scientific and industrial collaborations, and gain technical insights.

New international standard proposals submitted by Iran:

To date, ISO has published 113 international standards in various areas of nanotechnology. With 12 standards developed under its leadership, Iran currently ranks fourth globally after the United States, South Korea, and Japan, on par with the United Kingdom. The development of an international standard by ISO typically takes two to three years and is based on global consensus among member countries. Throughout the development process, technical committees collect and integrate expert opinions from participating countries to finalize each standard.

ISO/TC 229, the Nanotechnology Technical Committee, currently includes 39 participating (P-member) countries and 18 observing (O-member) countries.
