Iranian researchers at Isfahan University are using iron oxide nanoparticles to treat diabetes. The effectiveness of this method has been approved on rats.
In this project, iron oxide superparamagnetic nanoparticles are mixed, or technically conjugated, with quercetin. This helps quercetin reach its target more efficiently.
Analysis and tests confirmed that the efficiency of the proposed method is 90 percent higher than the traditional usage of quercetin.
Shiva Ebrahimpour, Ph.D. candidate and Dr. Abolghasem Esmaeili and Dr. Siamak Beheshti, faculty members at Isfahan University are key team members working on this project. The results of the research are published in the Journal of International Nano Medicine with an impact factor of 4.3.
