“Pad adhesive is used in production line of brake pads of light and heavy vehicles to connect lower and upper layers of the pad to each other,” Mohammad Alizadeh, one of co-founders of Polymer Pishrafteh Amirkabir company said. Nanoparticles are commonly used to improve the thermal properties of adhesive. The pad is constantly exposed to friction and endures high temperature. This addition increases the thermal resistance of the pad; thus, more resistance is observed in the hot shear test. The shear test is one of the essential tests for assessing performance of pads, which is done at room temperature as well as at 300 Celsius degrees. The improved pad presented 30% more shear resistance at 300 degrees.
“Following our continual interaction with one of the companies producing brake pads, we were informed about the problem of brake pad adhesive,” Alizadeh added, “therefore, we worked on this technology and finally succeeded in solving the challenge.” The company’s nano adhesive has similar functionality when compared to famous brands commonly found in the market.
In addition to the country’s local market, it is also looking for introduction of this product to foreign customers.
