In the introduction, the INIC Secretary General welcomed journalists and media members, outlining the achievements of INIC and plans for the upcoming nano exhibition. "This year's exhibition coincides with the completion of the market assessment studies for nano. Each year, we conduct a six-month process to study and evaluate the Iranian-made nano market. Today, we are sharing part of this report, and the full report will be published in the coming weeks."
Discussing the market orientation and the exhibition's role in INIC’s development plans, he stated, "According to the ten-year plan of INIC, we focus on promoting nano, human resource development, enhancing scientific publications, technological advancement, industry upgrading with the capabilities of domestic companies, market management, establishing standards and regulations, and fostering international collaborations. To achieve these, we have developed structures, and over the years, certain institutions have been formed, some of which will be present at the nano exhibition. Part of this agenda is technological and product development, and over recent years, we have supported various product development programs. In 2023, the number of supported technology and product development projects increased. Last year, 329 projects at various stages were supported, which typically undergo a two-year process to reach the initial stage of industrialization, though some projects receive support for up to seven or eight years. In the first half of the current year, we supported 169 projects, and we hope to surpass last year’s figures. Health and energy had the highest share of projects supported by INIC in 2023. By the end of last year, 1,577 approved nano products held nano-scale industrial approval."
Regarding the market size of Iran's nano industry, he noted, "Sales of Iran-made nano products amount to $1.62 billion, with 90.8% dedicated to the domestic market and 9.2% allocated to exports. This marks the second year that the dollar equivalent sales of nano products have surpassed one billion dollars. Sales growth of Iran-made nano products reached 104% compared to 2022, with the majority of this market associated with nano-coatings, nanocomposites, and nanocatalysts. In 2023, eleven companies with revenues exceeding one trillion were identified as large and impactful. The export market share last year was 9.2%, with Iranian nano products exported to 49 countries across five continents. Around 60% of exports were directed to countries such as Iraq, Syria, India, China, and Turkey. The largest export share was in construction products, nanomaterials, optics, and electronics, while agricultural products recorded a twentyfold increase compared to the previous year."
In the second part of the session, the Secretary of the Nano Technology Exhibition provided details about the 15th International Nano Technology Exhibition, explaining, "This year’s exhibition will utilize two halls. The Persian Gulf Hall will host companies active in nanotechnology, while the Nations Hall will accommodate micro-technology companies. Companies in various micro and nano fields will be present, and new products and innovative projects will be unveiled during the exhibition. The opening ceremony will take place on November 3 at 10 a.m. in the Persian Gulf Hall, where top nano exporters will be honored. Given the significance of exports and international sales, we will also hold workshops and educational panels during the exhibition. In the industry and market sectors, matchmaking events will take place, bringing together large holdings and major companies to facilitate meetings with nano companies. We held a similar program on innovative and global projects last year, which we will continue this year, featuring ten global innovative projects. At the Investment Café, investment companies will be available to fund nano projects."
Regarding the micro sector, he added, "This year, we will hold the first Microelectronics Exhibition in the Nations Hall, with various micro companies participating. Other events for the micro field have also been planned."
He shared statistics for the exhibition, noting, "This year, 170 companies or individuals in the nanotechnology sector will participate, and over 98 innovative projects will be introduced to investors. Additionally, fourteen top academic achievements will be showcased. In the micro sector, we have sixty organizations and companies, twenty projects introduced to investors, and thirty-two events and meetings related to micro-technology will take place at the exhibition."
