Iran's delegates attended virtually in this meeting and three international standards which are being developed under Iran’s leadership were discussed in ISO's technical committee on Nanotechnologies (ISO/TC 229) meeting.
The first standard, entitled “Nanotechnologies — Superhydrophobic surfaces and coatings: characteristics and performance assessment” and being developed under Iran’s leadership in ISO, was discussed and reviewed. The resolution was that the draft of the standard can be proceeded to the final stage of international standard development procedure. The standard is being developed by an Iranian knowledge-based company. The second one which focuses on super-hydrophobic textiles, entitled “Nanotechnologies — Textiles containing nanomaterials and nanostructures — Superhydrophobic characteristics and durability assessment”. In this session the resolution was that this is standard is ready to send for publication. The third standard which has recently approved by member countries of ISO/TC229 with the title of "Nanotechnologies — Test method for detection of nano-object release from respiratory masks media under different working conditions” was presented and discussed in this meeting. This standard is being developed by an academic and research group.
Iran also proposed a new standard covering properties and characteristics of hard nano coatings Working group 4 of ISO/TC229. The committee concluded to give Iran the opportunity to prepare a preliminary draft of this standard to send to the international committee for consideration and discussion.
Annual meetings of the Technical Committee of Nanotechnologies are held to determine the policies and work plans of this committee for the development of international standards related to nanotechnology, review the projects and proposals presented by member countries, reach a global consensus on various issues and cooperate with international and regional organizations in the field of nanotechnology standards.
