The project is aimed at producing a rapid-test for detection of l-tyrosine amino acid in the blood. Due to the usage of banana peel tissue and silica nanoparticles, the cost of production is considerably lowered. 

The nano-biosensor showed a linear response for l-tyrosine in the wide concentration range of 0.05–600 μM and a low detection limit about 0.02 μM.

Prof. JahanBakhsh Raoof, Prof. Reza Ojani and Dr. Tahereh Aghajanzadeh, faculty members, Dr. Ayemeh Bagheri, Ph.D. graduate, and Mohadeseh Rahimi, Ph.D. candidate at University of Mazandaran, are key team members working on this project. The results of the study are published in the International Journal of biological macromolecules with an impact factor of 3.9.
