Clean power production by simultaneous reduction of NOx and SOx contaminants using Mazut Nano-Emulsion

A faculty member at Tehran University has designed a nanotechnology-based system to reduce pollution from power plants.

In a recent research project at Tehran University, the NOx and SOx pollutions created by mazut fuel used in power plants were reduced by 80 percent. In this research, an emulsion structure containing nano-sized water droplets helps the fuel to burn more efficiently and therefore lowers the production of pollutants.

Dr. Shahriar Kouravand, a faculty member at Tehran University is the key researcher behind this project. The results are published in the Journal of Cleaner Production with an impact factor of 5.651.
