Electronic devices are commonly sensitive to moisture. Waterproof property could become considerably important when devices including electronic circuits, cell phones, headphones, electronic boards, and electrical appliances are unintentionally exposed to extreme humidity.
Plasma processing system could add waterproof feature to three-dimensional surfaces and objects. It can add waterproof feature to different products, especially ones produced in electronic or textile industries.
Also, anti-corrosion feature can also be added to those products. In addition to creation of hydrophobic property, other favorable features including anti-stain, surface activation, and slow burning properties could be observed.
The plasma processing system is a device that is used to process and activate the surface or deposit a thin layer with specific properties on different surfaces. Plasma processing is performed in a chamber with controlled conditions. In this regard, surface is cleaned and activated using a gas or a mixture of various gases ionized by radio frequency (RF) generator. Then, a suitable gaseous or liquid monomer is injected into the chamber. Monomer molecules are separated with the help of radio frequency energy. Radicals are adsorbed on the surface. Connection of electrons and ions to each other and creation of a chemical bond with molecules deposited on the surface are resulted in development of a thick dense layer (with the thickness of 30-300 nm) on the surface.
