Scientific cooperation and technology exchange between Iran and Armenia in the field of nanotechnology

A joint meeting was held between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Armenia on the scientific cooperation and technology exchange with the participation of officials and activists from both countries. Among the main achievements of this meeting, signing a memorandum of understanding on the technology transfer of the nanostructured UPVC pipes and two memorandums of understanding on the technology transfer of anti-cancer nano-drugs by Iran were the most significant.

After the invitation of the Republic of Armenia’s Economic Development Ministry from Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) to attend a joint meeting on the scientific cooperation and technology exchange between Armenia and Iran, two sessions were held on September 22 and 23 with the presence of Armenia’s Minister and Deputy of the Economic Development and Investment Ministry, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a large number of professors, scientists, executives and representatives of Armenia’s industrial enterprises and Iranian delegations. These sessions were chaired by the secretary of INIC including Iranian scientists and six Iranian companies active in the field of nanotechnology.

Receiving special attention, Dr. Saeed Sarkar, the secretary of INIC, presented Iran’s recent achievements and plans for nanotechnology development at the meeting. While in the opening ceremony of this meeting, Armenia’s Economic Development Minister expressed his interest in further development of cooperation in this field, he warmly appreciated INIC and Iran’s Ambassador in Armenia.

Following the two-day program, a memorandum of understanding on the technology transfer of nanostructured UPVC pipes from an Iranian company to Armenia was signed, as well as two cooperation agreements on the technology transfer of anti-cancer nano-drugs by an Iranian company to two Armenian counterparts with the presence of Armenia’s Deputy of Economic Development Ministry, Iran’s ambassador in Armenia, and the INIC secretary.
