Mehdi Safari, the Deputy for Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an interview with the IRNA political correspondent, regarding the trip of Mohammad Mokhber, the First Deputy of the President, and his accompanying delegation to Beijing on November 4th for participation in the China Import Expo and visiting Iran's export booth, stated: “The Chinese have been actively hosting this exhibition since 2017. Unlike other countries that usually organize these exhibitions for exports, the Beijing government will hold this exhibition for imports.”
He added, “This year is a special year, and around 100 countries have participated and Iran has a 2,000-square-meter pavilion in the private sector section and an additional 150 square meters in the national pavilion. Of course, national pavilions are standardized for countries.”
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, continuing to discuss the President's emphasis on export development and revenue generation for the country, which includes not only neighboring countries but also other target countries, stated: “One of our target countries for exports is China, and we have made favorable agreements for the development of exports of some products like saffron, seafood, dairy products, and more to this country. China, with a population of 1.4 billion, can provide a significant export opportunity for Iran.” This trip is important in that it demonstrates the government's commitment to giving special importance to exports. The First Deputy of the President also delivered a speech at this event and is negotiating with government representatives, the private sector, and importers from various countries to address export and customs-related barriers.
Safari, referring to negotiations for imports and the transfer of knowledge-based technology during this trip, stated: “I believe this trip has positive outcomes. Iranian companies in the energy and petrochemical sectors are also present in this exhibition, 60% of them are knowledge-based companies, which shows the strength of our producers in the fields of Nano and biotechnology.”
Safari emphasized: “The important point is that export licenses to China strengthen our market. The exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade, and the Minister of Industry visited this country a few days earlier.” Also, he said: “We can develop our exports to China by 2 to 3 billion dollars through this exhibition.”
