The Iranian company Ava Teyf Negar Pouya has successfully designed and developed a portable, non-invasive hemoglobin meter, a breakthrough device capable of measuring blood hemoglobin levels in less than 1 minute without blood sampling.
This innovation, built upon advanced optical, photonic, and electronic technologies, enables fast and accurate detection of anemia and aims to promote accessible healthcare equity, particularly in rural and underserved regions.
According to the development team, the device operates on optical and photonic principles, allowing hemoglobin concentration to be measured precisely through light-based analysis rather than invasive blood tests. The prototype model is lightweight, portable, and user-friendly. Future versions based on the same indigenous photonic platform will also measure bilirubin and blood glucose non-invasively.
The hemoglobin meter can be used in emergency rooms, surgical wards, ICUs, clinics, and rural health centers, providing rapid, on-the-spot readings of hemoglobin levels in just a few seconds. It also offers valuable applications in school health screening, occupational monitoring for industrial workers, and enhancing efficiency in blood donation centers.
Rapid, accurate, and non-invasive measurement of hemoglobin
No blood sampling or disposable materials required
Lightweight and portable, ideal for field operations
Reduced diagnostic time and cost
High export potential for regional healthcare markets
This smart medical device represents a significant local innovation in nanophotonic medical instrumentation. It marks an important step toward advancing digital healthcare, enabling faster diagnostics, and improving the quality and accessibility of medical services in Iran and beyond
