Easy, Rapid and Cheap Detection of Rotten Food by Nanotechnology

A research team at the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili design a nanosensor for rapid detection of E. coli.

Sensing E. coli bacteria can play a big role in the early detection of rotten food. The main goal of this project is to design a

nanosensor which can detect bacteria in nutrients. 

The designed prototype is user-friendly, cheap, and can detect bacteria very fast.

Analysis shows that the detection limit of the sensor for E. coli UTI89 is below 1 cfu per mL.

Dr. Mandana Amiri and Dr. Saeid Latifi faculty members, Esmat Abdi, Ph.D. candidate and Hamed Jafaria Master’s student at the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili along with a team at Lille University are key team members working on this project. The results are published in the Journal of Biosensors and Bioelectronics with an impact factor of 8.1.
