Iranian researchers at the Shahid Madani University of Azerbaijan and the Sahand University of Technology of Tabriz managed to increase the efficiency of solar cells by adding carbon nanotubes to its structure.
In this project, the efficiency of photovoltaic increases by the factor of seven due to the addition of modified carbon nanotubes to the structure of solar cells. Also, a progress was detected in crystallinity and photovoltaic characteristics including current density, fill factor and power conversion efficiency. The solar cells can be used in manufacturing self-charging batteries for smartphones and other portable devices.
Samira Agbolaghi, a faculty member at Shahid Madani University and Somaiyeh Charoughchi, Sahar Aghapour and Farhand Abbasi, faculty members at Sahand University of Technology, are key members working on this project. The results of their research are published in the Journal of Solar Energy with an impact factor of 4.374.
