Magnesium fluoride (MgF2) is an inorganic compound which is a white crystalline salt and is transparent over a wide range of wavelengths. It occurs naturally as the rare mineral sellaite. MgF2 nanoparticles possess fabulous properties like low refractive index, corrosion resistance, high thermal stability and toughness which make them an interesting candidate in the catalyst, coating, and anti-reflective lenses applications. Because of high light transmission in the range of 1-7 μm, as optical materials, they are used for protection, anti-reflective coating, and transmission the light over the glass.
