A Nanosensors for Methane Detection


A nanosensor has been developed at K. N. Toosi University of Technology which can be used for methane detection at petrochemical or refinery sites.

Methane is a poisonous gas which can endanger human health and cause an explosion if its density reaches higher than 1%. The designed prototype can detect methane concentrations of 100 to 1000 ppm in a wide range of temperature, 25 to 200 C. The product can be used in industrial environments like petrochemical or refinery sites and has the technical potential for mass production.
