Significant Improvement of Dental Implants through Ultrasonic Modifications

An Iranian research team at Tehran University created a nanostructure surface on a Titanium alloy used in dental implants.

In this project, a nanostructure surface is created on a novel Titanium alloy by ultrasonic modification process. This method considerably increases the resistance against abrasion and biological activities. 

The analysis demonstrates that the abrasion resistance and cellular adhesion is increased by 7 and 2 folds, respectively. 

Dr. Mehdi Kheradmandfard Ph.D. graduate and Dr. Seyed Farshid Kashani-Bozorg, faculty member at Tehran University are key team members working on this project. The results of this research are published in the Journal of Alloys and Compounds with an impact factor of 3.7.
