Number of Iranian Students Enrolled in Nano Majors Shows 80% Increase in 2009 [hit: 440]

TEHRAN (INIC)- Iran’s universities experienced an 80% rise in their student enrolment rates in 2009 compared to 2008.
In response to the remarkable demand by students, Iranian universities started offering academic programs concerning nanotechnology in M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels.
During 2009, about 153 students entered Iran’s universities to continue their M.Sc. studies in various nanotechnology related majors titled nanochemistry, nanophysics, nanopolymers, chemical engineering (specialization of nanotechnology), nanomaterials, etc.
This figure does not account for other students whose research works are related to nanotechnology or Iranian students studying abroad.
University of Tehran, Tarbiat Modares University, Sharif University of Technology, Amirkabir University of Technology, Isfahan University of Technology, Shiraz University, Sahand University of Technology, and Persian Gulf University are the most active universities of Iran in nano science and technology whose scientific efforts have been well reflected in world scientific journals.
